Adobe Acrobat Pro provides a convenient feature to convert PDF documents into Microsoft Word files (DOC or DOCX) through an automatic conversion process. This feature is particularly efficient when the original PDF is editable, meaning it contains selectable text and not just images or scanned content.
In this post we will show you the process of how to convert a PDF to Word using Adobe Acrobat Pro. To obtain the desktop application, follow this link.
1. Launch Adobe Acrobat Pro on your computer.
When you open Adobe Acrobat Pro on your computer you will have a view that will look similar to this:
2. Open the PDF file
Click on “File” in the top-left corner of the window. Select “Open” from the dropdown menu. Browse and select the PDF file you want to convert, then click “Open.”
3. Export to Microsoft Word
Once you have the desired PDF open export it to a Microsoft Word and save the document. Easy peasy!
4. Review the Word Document
Once you open the converted Word document, you can review the quality of the conversion. The results are often better if the PDF contains mainly plain, editable text and has minimal complex layouts or scanned content.
In this case, the fonts look a bit funny, and some icons need to be replaced. But apart from that, the document looks pretty well. Please note that if you are going to use the document for translation, we highly recommend that you prepare the content before.
